Six months ago at this time I was laying in a drugged up state at Seton enjoying the best naps of my life. The epidural was in, as was the electronic fetal monitor, and Kevin was zonked out on the couch next to the bed. Every hour or so my co-worker would call to see if we'd made any progress and when can they come see JT? I spent my day flipping from side to side every couple of hours to try and shake JT into a better place to deliver. He was having none of it.
Six months later and he's still having none of it.
He's doing a pretty good military crawl across the floor to get to whatever toy he's pushed out of reach. He'll sit up for a good half hour before he finally topples over. He can reach out while sitting to pick something up without falling over (for the most part) but still loves to stand on our laps.
He loves his Jumperoo and will bounce like a maniac to hear the music and see the lights flash. His arms wave like crazy and his little (big) legs are running so fast it looks like he's running a marathon.
He still digs his Leap Frog exersaucer and is a pro at opening the lid. He'll open and close, open and close, open and close while watching what's happening. Every now and then I'll hide a pacifier in there and he'll get surprised when he swings around to it.
The dark hair he was born with has slowly been replaced with blond hair. He looks bald from a distance but there is a good covering going on. He still bears the scar on his scalp from the monitor.
His tooth is sprouting more each day and the second tooth is still working it's way through. He loves to bite on soft things, hard things, fuzzy things and basically whatever he can put his mouth on.
His eyes are still blue but they also turn a grey-green color.
He sat in a shopping cart for the first time today and we were stopped several times by people ooh'ing and ahh'ing over him. One employee stopped us and said, "Look who's riding like a big boy today!" - like he's seen us there before? JT smiled so big at him that his pacifier fell right out of his mouth.
JT is sleeping on his own at night, either starting out in his crib or in the p'n'p in our bedroom. I'm weaning him off the middle of the night feedings which is sad for me. There's a great amount of cuddling (and fist pounding) that goes on during those feedings that I'm missing already. Some nights he doesn't even wake up at all which leaves me with boulders on my chest.
He enjoys watching us eat but doesn't care so much for eating himself. He's had cereal probably dozen times or so but it's nothing consistent. He's been poo poo'ing the cereal lately which I think just coincides with the teething issue.
His 6 month appointment is on Tuesday so we'll find out what the doc wants us to do about food, how much he actually weighs (we guess 20), his gigantic head measurement and length. I'm a bad parent for not knowing this but I think he may get shots, too. If he doesn't, yay. If he does, great - he's done it before.
In the same car seat - Leaving the hospital 3/26 and at 6 months.

happy birthday cheeky monkey!
yep, shots are coming, but jake wasn't fussy or sleepy this time with them. maybe they are milder or maybe the boys are growing and they don't bother the "older" babies?
enjoy your weekend!
