Here are the rules for JT's kinder class. It's the color system. I haven't seen the actual layout but how JT describes it is his name is on a clip on a stick.
All the kids begin on green each day. JT was on green the first day. If they have excellent behavior, above and beyond, then they get to move up to purple. If they get purple all week, they get to pick a prize out of the treasure box.
If the student is not following school rules, he will receive a warning. She will give a verbal redirection as well as a "check yourself" (before you wreck yourself!) signal but the student will remain on green. If she has to redirect again, they will be moved down to yellow. This results in 5 minutes of walking the track instead of playing at recess. JT landed on yellow on Wednesday for talking. Later he tells me he's talking because he's bored. Great. Bored on day three of school.
If she has to redirect the kid several times, they will be placed on blue. This results in 7 minutes of walking instead of playing and a phone call to the parents. The student can move back up the stick if he's following the rules and shows that he wants to move up. Guess who came home on blue today? JT the Talker. *shaking my head* I blame the Ballew genes. Those buggers can talk a blue streak a mile wide.
Red is the bottom of the behavior stick. That's reserved for the kids who harm others verbally or physically or harm themselves. Then the kiddo would be sent to the office with a written referral and a call to the parents made from the teacher and principal. I pray to the good Lord above that JT doesn't continue his downward spiral tomorrow.
